The last comment was a bug in IE beta 2, not your code. As soon as I turn on compatibility mode the shape shows up, ;)

Thanks for your hard work and sharing!

It seems you are doing something with currentShape. I'm intrigued by your article and have recreated the pieces in order to study it further. Yet I get no shape on my map. When I step through the code with Visual Studio, it in fact fills pu the shape object, but get no line on the map. The difference between these two is that your using currentShape somewhere. Please advise!!!

You might not have that program installed (look at Add Remove programs) but rather some other tool that does something similar. Go ahead and try Process Monitor to see which process might be doing something while you launch HL. Also, try and update your video and sound card drivers.

Hi,

I included the script from http://dev.virtualearth.net/mapcontrol/mapcontrol.ashx?v=6.2 or even when v=6.0 in my html page.

I am trying to render the map in Windows Mobile 6.1 IE. And clearly, my browser supports javascript (all essential DOM and inbuilt functions) and ajax (I have verified this.)

I opened that in Windows Mobile 6.1 pro emulator IE , it initially didn't even throw any scripting error. When I changed the registry to show scripting errors, it then threw a JScript RunTime error: "VEMap is undefined". How can this be, when I clearly included the script file for that.

I checked with the rather unparsed and illegible source code at http://dev.virtualearth.net/mapcontrol/mapcontrol.ashx?v=6.2 , but with little to make any sense out of it, except that it is an Ajax api

But, if you can please how you were able to render the virtual earth on the mobile browser, it would be of great help to me.

Thank you all in advance,
Renuka.

PS: this works with my desktop browser and doesn't on the WM 6.1 Pro emulator's browser. And the Platform I use is VS2005, not 2008 and it's a normal website not an ajax enabled one. (is it due to that??? But Ajax's XMLXTTP request to a web service worked perfectly fine. so, no compatibility issues with asynchronous requests in ajax...)

Wow!!
Awsome piece of work and well explained. Can't believe it is actually that straight forward...
Will build and try this out on my HTC Touch Diamond tonight!
Continuing on these basics, it could easily grow into a tracker application for many purposes...

Hi,

I'm looking for a solution that would retrieve GPS coordinates. In my solution users connect to a LAMP server via their browser on Windows Mobile device (with GPS) to fill in a form. Ideally I would like to store GPS data when they finish filling it in. Have you got any idea how to achieve this?

Thanks in advance

Hei Kyberias,

it happens to me all the time!

Minor changes can have a big (and annyoing) impact.

(Like the new behaviour of the hang-up key on S60 3rd Ed. phones: now closing apps, before just sending them to the background.)

Cheers

Yes I think so, the MMC snap-in works. One additional step we had to take that is missing from above is the transfer of additional UDDI error messages from the system tables. Without those, some errors from UDDI's stored procedures may look different that you're used to. Actually, you will see quite weird errors instead and those might be quite confusing.
